Zone 5 · Microgreens Growing Guide
The most substantial microgreen — thick, crunchy stems with mild nutty flavour. Soak black oil sunflower seeds 8–12 hours before sowing.
In Zone 5, Sunflower Sprouts should be planted outdoors Indoors year-round, after the average last frost date of approximately Apr 15.
Soak seeds 8–12 hours. Harvest in 10–14 days.

Harvested at sprout stage — no fertilizer needed. Water and light are all that's required.
Sow a new tray every week. Like all microgreens, each tray gives one harvest — continuous sowing is the only way to have a continuous supply.
What you plant next to sunflower sprouts makes a real difference — some plants actively help, others compete or attract pests.
These guides get better when growers like you contribute. If something’s wrong or you’ve learned something worth sharing, we’d love to hear it.
