Zone 8 · Squash Growing Guide
The novelty squash that earns its place. Fork out the cooked flesh for spaghetti-like strands. 90+ days means it needs a long warm season — one of the latest winter squashes.
In Zone 8, Spaghetti Squash should be planted outdoors Mar 15 – Apr 15, after the average last frost date of approximately Feb 15. Start seeds indoors around Mar 1 – Mar 10 for a head start.
Spring planting works well. Direct sow once soil is warm. Harvest when rind is hard and creamy yellow.

Feed at planting, at vine run, and when fruit appears. Avoid high nitrogen late season.
What you plant next to spaghetti squash makes a real difference — some plants actively help, others compete or attract pests.
These guides get better when growers like you contribute. If something’s wrong or you’ve learned something worth sharing, we’d love to hear it.
