Zone 11 · Beans & Peas Growing Guide
Flat-podded peas harvested before seeds develop. Crisp, sweet, and eaten whole. Cool-season crop — direct sow as early as possible in spring. Needs a trellis.
In Zone 11, Snow Peas should be planted outdoors Nov – Jan, after the average last frost date of approximately none.
Very limited cool season. Higher elevations only.
Very limited cool season. Higher elevations only.
No fertilizer needed. Like all legumes, snow peas fix atmospheric nitrogen and thrive in average soil.
Sow every 2–3 weeks from early spring. Same strategy as sugar snap peas — spread the harvest across a longer window before summer heat shuts them down.
What you plant next to snow peas makes a real difference — some plants actively help, others compete or attract pests.
These guides get better when growers like you contribute. If something’s wrong or you’ve learned something worth sharing, we’d love to hear it.
