Zone 8 · Herbs Growing Guide
Perennial Mediterranean herb that gets more flavourful in hot dry conditions. Greek oregano is most aromatic. Harvest before flowering — flavour is strongest just before flowers open.
In Zone 8, Oregano should be planted outdoors Feb 1 – Mar 15, after the average last frost date of approximately Feb 15.
Year-round perennial. Zone 8 summers produce the most intensely flavoured oregano.

Like all Mediterranean herbs, over-feeding reduces flavour. One light feed in spring is ideal.
What you plant next to oregano makes a real difference — some plants actively help, others compete or attract pests.
These guides get better when growers like you contribute. If something’s wrong or you’ve learned something worth sharing, we’d love to hear it.
