Compact winter squash with ribbed dark green skin. More manageable vines than butternut. Harvest when fully black-green and the stem dries out. Stores 2–3 months.
In Zone 8, Acorn Squash should be planted outdoors Mar 15 – Apr 15, after the average last frost date of approximately Feb 15. Start seeds indoors around Mar 1 – Mar 10 for a head start.
Spring crop. Direct sow works well. Cure at room temperature for 2 weeks after harvest.

Moderate feeder. Compost at planting plus 2-3 feeds during the season is sufficient.
